Amber Baumberger, Heart-to-heart doula

Hi, I’m Amber, the face behind Heart-to-Heart Doula.

I offer in person support from Perth to Mandurah, virtual support online and a hybrid of in-person and virtual support for mamas living regionally and birthing in Perth.

Like me, the bright yellow kōwhai flower you see on my page comes from Aotearoa/New Zealand. This flower represents strength, courage and new beginnings- qualities that resonate deeply in the journey of bringing new life into the world.

It is believed that giving someone a kōwhai tree shows that you trust in their abilities and judgment, have respect for their choices, and who they are as a person. For this reason, I have featured the beautiful kōwhai flower on my website, social media and resources. It serves as a reminder that, as your doula, I have full trust in your judgment, your choices and your ability to bring your baby earthside and navigate the postpartum period. It is your birth, your baby and you have control.

I believe that we find ourselves in an era where we have lost the connection with our bodies and our gut instincts, relying more on opinions of others rather than what feels right for us. When we have the information and the space to tap into those instincts, we are able to make the right decisions for our pregnancy, birth, baby and postpartum period.

My purpose is to guide you throughout this journey by offering evidence-based knowledge, practical skills and tailored support- emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually, so you feel informed and confident in navigating each step of the way.

Whether this is your first child or you are expanding your family, it’s an honour to walk alongside you.

Doula

“a person, usually a woman, who is not medically trained but who gives help and support to a woman during pregnancy and during and after the birth of her baby.”

-Cambridge Dictionary

What does a doula do?

A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous support to individuals during pregnancy, labour, birth, and the postpartum period. Doulas offer emotional, physical, spiritual and informational assistance, helping to create a space where a woman feels supported and confident to make informed decisions that align with her values and beliefs.

Doulas do not provide medical care and work with the pregnant woman to support her to ensure that she feels safe and supported throughout her experience. Their role is centered around helping the woman tap into her instincts to advocate for her experience, providing education, and emotional reassurance, promoting a nurturing and informed space for pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

“If a doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it.”
